Making it Personal
They have meals and gatherings at their vintage teak table, which Linda pairs perfectly with Cavallo’s curved outdoor dining chairs. “We knew right away they would be favorites.” She decorated the table with her mom’s wineglasses, her favorite flea-market finds and an Erika Tanov tablecloth.
A shopkeeper for over 25 years, Linda feels fortunate to have met “amazing artists and talented designers that helped me hone/define my personal aesthetic. Our style reflects our life of 43 years together with selected heirlooms, vintage finds, inspiration from our travels and edits by our many relocations. Organic and modern clean lines enhance our treasured pieces.”

Blending Styles, Textures, & Influences in a Considered Way
Linda and Ray spend early mornings with coffee on their heated bench. “I love the way the curved seating, modern lines and minimalist style complement the garden,” Linda said. The lounge has become a family-favorite place to sit year-round. “We sit there more than we ever thought, originally thinking it would be used in winter, but we find ourselves there every day. We often find our young granddaughters curled up and cozy on cool evenings,” she added.

Garden Nooks & Spots for Sun & Shade
Linda and Ray intentionally chose curved outdoor seating. “We wanted our backyard to reflect the ‘storybook’ architecture of the 1936 house, but also feel elevated/sophisticated. The rounded furniture felt right, a natural flow with the rambling paths. Also, I appreciate the unexpected,” Linda said.
If they had to do it all over again, they would choose the exact same pieces. “We really appreciate the quality and style. The cushions are easy to clean and the teak feels organic within the garden.”

Create Cool Retreats & Warm Gathering Spots
When it comes to relaxing, Ray loves to stretch out in the garden with a book or join Linda to take in the beautiful high desert evenings at their fireside lounge. Each garden zone is connected by curved walkways that are echoed in the round pillows and fire table and wraparound chairs. Organic landscaping makes the small backyard feel like a rambling journey between rooms. Lanterns guide the way after dark.

Enjoying High Desert Evenings
To create their exterior enclave, they browsed the Terra website and made multiple trips to the Rocklin showroom. Linda said, “We chose Terra Outdoor because of the superior quality and wide selection to match our style and existing pieces. And also because of the great customer service we received from the Rocklin store. They are the best, so helpful and patient.”
