Morrison Interiors at Cherry Hills Lane
Set against the rolling greens of Big Canyon, this newly reimagined Newport Beach estate is designed to do more than impress. It invites you to slow down, settle in, and live fully both inside and out.
In collaboration with Morrison Interiors, JFB Custom Homes, architect Eric Aust, and Valia Properties, 8 Cherry Hills Lane has been completely rebuilt with a clear vision in mind. One that embraces its setting, captures natural light, and reflects the ease of coastal outdoor living.
The result is a home that feels at once elevated and effortless. Refined in its details, yet grounded in comfort. A place where architecture, materials, and landscape come together to create a seamless living experience.
Designed Around the Landscape
“A home designed to fully embrace its setting, where the landscape becomes part of the architecture.”

From the very beginning, the home was conceived to take full advantage of its location overlooking the Big Canyon golf course. Expansive windows, open sightlines, and carefully aligned spaces allow the outdoors to become part of the architecture itself.
Rather than treating the landscape as something to look at, the design pulls it inward. Views are framed intentionally, light moves freely through the home, and each space feels connected to what lies just beyond.
The goal was simple but ambitious. Create a home that feels open, light-filled, and deeply connected to its surroundings, while supporting a relaxed Newport Beach lifestyle.
A Balance of Timeless and Modern
“Timeless materials grounded in warmth, paired with a layout designed for how we live today.”

The architectural language sets the tone immediately. Textural white brick, crisp paneling, and warm shingles create a layered exterior that feels both classic and current.
Inside, that same balance continues. Morrison Interiors approached the design as a dialogue between contrasts. Modern and traditional. Clean and rustic. Structured and relaxed.
Warm wood tones, natural stone, and layered textures bring depth and warmth . Meanwhile, the open layout and clean lines keep the home feeling fresh and contemporary. The result is a coastal aesthetic that feels sophisticated rather than overly casual.
It is a home grounded in timeless materials, yet designed for the way people live today.
Indoor–Outdoor Living, Reimagined
“A seamless transition where the outdoors is not separate, but ever-present.”
In Newport Beach, outdoor living is not an afterthought. It is essential. At 8 Cherry Hills Lane, that philosophy is carried through every detail. Large openings and expansive glass create a natural flow between interior and exterior spaces, while consistent materials help guide the experience from one area to the next.
One subtle but impactful moment is the use of limestone. Beginning at the exterior entry, it continues through the interior foyer and extends out toward the poolside patio, visually linking the spaces and reinforcing that sense of continuity. Throughout the home, the outdoors feels ever-present. Not separate, but seamlessly integrated into daily life.
Spaces for Gathering, Entertaining, and Unwinding

The outdoor areas were designed with intention, offering a range of experiences that feel connected yet distinct.
There are open spaces for entertaining around the pool, where guests can gather, dine, and relax together. More intimate areas offer quiet places to unwind, whether it is a morning coffee on a smaller patio or an evening retreat off the primary suite.
Each space serves a purpose, but nothing feels overly defined. The layout is intuitive, allowing the home to adapt naturally from everyday living to larger gatherings.
It is this flexibility of indoor-outdoor living that makes the home feel as livable as it is beautiful.
Furnishing the Experience with Terra Outdoor
“Elevated yet relaxed, with comfort that never takes a back seat to design.”

To bring these outdoor spaces to life for the upcoming CDM Home Tour and listing period, Morrison Interiors turned to Terra Outdoor.
For a home of this caliber, outdoor furnishings must do more than complement the design. They must enhance how the space is experienced.
“Outdoor furnishings need to strike the same balance as the interiors,” notes Morrison Interiors. “Comfort, durability, and thoughtful design are essential. Pieces should feel elevated yet relaxed, and able to withstand the coastal environment while maintaining their beauty over time.”
Terra’s refined silhouettes and material-driven approach align naturally with that vision. Each piece is designed to feel like a seamless extension of the home, where comfort is never sacrificed and every detail is considered.
Because in a space like this, how it feels matters just as much as how it looks.
A Home That Brings the Community Together

The home was recently featured on the CDM Home Tour, a beloved Newport Beach tradition that draws more than 1,500 guests each year.
Beyond showcasing exceptional homes, the event supports Corona Del Mar Middle School and High School. The proceeds fund teacher training, classroom resources, and student enrichment programs.
For Morrison Interiors, being included in the tour is both an honor and an opportunity.
“It’s exciting to share a project like this with the community while also supporting an important cause. As a team, we’re always looking for inspiration, and it’s meaningful to be part of something that may inspire others.”
Designed to Be Felt
While the home is undeniably striking, its true success lies in something less tangible.
A sense of warmth.
A feeling of ease.
A connection to the outdoors that never fades.
Many of the most impactful details are subtle. Custom millwork. Layered materials. The way light moves through each room over the course of the day.
These are the elements that quietly shape the experience of the home. The ones you may not notice at first glance, but feel immediately.
And ultimately, that is what this coastal outdoor living project is all about.
Creating a space that is not only beautiful, but deeply livable.
A place to relax, recharge, entertain, and simply enjoy life outside.
